What is happening at Christ Church and beyond
Date for your Diary: 15th-17th May. Church Weekend @ Home!

Urgently Needed Please: volunteers to help with locking up the building at the end of the day Mondays to Saturdays. There is a very reliable team of people who are on a rota to lock the building at around 10.00 pm after all the hirers have left. Unfortunately, for various reasons some people have had to step down. This means that the remaining volunteers are having to come more often. If you can help with this very important role, please can you email me at centre@ccbedford.org to find out more. If this is not something you can do very often, an offer to help one or two evenings a month would be most welcome. Many thanks, Dawn.
Home Communion: If you, or anyone you know is unable to attend church and would like to receive Home Communion, please contact Vikki Thomas (vicarspa@ccbedford.org) to arrange for someone to visit.
Craft Time: Do you enjoy craft activities, such as sewing, card making, crochet, cross stitch, knitting, drawing, paper craft etc? There is a group of us who meet in room 7 at Church on a Thursday morning from 10am to 12 Noon. We spend time together chilling, chatting and creating our crafts. If anyone is interested to find out more information, look out for Carolynne Roberts, Lesley Greenslade, or Sandra Gardner on a Sunday or just turn up on a Thursday.... Open to all levels of interest, we look forward to seeing you.
There is no Church Walk today, Sunday 15th March.
Lent Course: Continues Wednesday 18th March 8pm in the church. We will be looking at Jesus in different spaces as we journey together to Holy Week, using material from Tom Wright’s book “Lent and Easter for Everyone”, (this week: Jesus among Enemies). Please do join us in person or online – we will be livestreaming (or you can always watch later) on the Christ Church Bedford YouTube channell.

Go4Gold Soup and Social: Friday 20th March @ 12.45pm. There will be a choice of soups, bread rolls, cheese, yoghurts and fruit for a suggested donation of £2pp. This will be followed by a social in the Hub from 2-3.15pm (suggested donation £1pp). No booking is needed, you are welcome, just turn up to one or both events.
Men’s Social: Come and see the Bedford Blues at Goldington Rd on Saturday 21st March. Kick off at 3pm vs Nottingham. Please purchase your own ticket online and congregate at the ground between the main entrance and the stand. Pre drink at the Three Cups on Newnham St from 1pm for those that wish to join us. Hope to see you there.
Together Alliance: On Saturday 28th March hundreds of Christians will join a huge coalition of charities, faith groups, and civil society organisations in the Together Alliance march in London to call for a greater focus on *love, hope, and unity* in the face of a resurgent Far Right. Christians will be coming together at this event as our faith is increasingly associated with movements seeking to exclude and oppress rather than love and liberate. For more information talk to Sue Marshall or Michael Bishop
Good Friday Refreshments: Can you help please? After the 10am service on Good Friday (3rd April) we want to serve refreshments, including Hot Cross Buns, but we need a team of 4-5 to prepare and serve in order to do this. If you’re able to help please email Kay on kayberrington@btinternet.com
Men’s Away Day – Save the Date: After a successful men’s weekend away in October last year a venue has been booked for a men’s away day on Saturday 26th September 2026. Further details will follow, but put the date in your diary now. Cost will be in the region of £20, but will be confirmed later. Hope you can join us for the away day.
Plant Sale: Saturday 9th May. Last year lots of people requested vegetable and herbs plants so please sow lots of these. Please sow and divide lots of flowers/shrubs/trees etc too. If you need, there are some plant pots at the top of the Vicarage driveway.
